Summary Fields screen

Lets app designers configure the summary fields for a process-based app.

Background and Setup

Prerequisites

Good to Know

  • A summary field shows in Modern Work Center after you add it in the Summary Fields screen. It is not required to publish the app to show the summary fields.
  • This field shows only simple data, such as strings, numbers, or dates. It can not show complex data, such as repeating schema elements, or data from subforms.
  • This field shows only in Modern Work Center. It does not show in Classic Work Center.
  • This field shows to users who have permission to see the app in Modern Work Center.

    Modern Work Center only considers whether a runtime app user has access to an app when it shows summary fields. It does not consider other security permissions within the app, such as whether specific users or groups can access entities or eForm. AgilePoint recommends that app designers consider data security when they create summary fields.

How to Start

  1. Click App Builder.

    Click App Builder
  2. On the App Builder Home screen, click All Apps.

    Click All Apps
  3. On the All Apps screen, on an app, click Edit Edit icon.

    Click Edit
  4. On the App Details screen, click Summary Fields Summary Fields icon.

Description:
Specifies the variable whose value shows in the summary field.
Allowed Values:
A process data variable.
Default Value:
None

Import Import icon

Opens this Screen:
Import JSON File screen
Function of this Screen:
Uploads a list of exported summary fields from your local machine, and adds it to a process-based app.

Export Export icon

Function:
Downloads the summary fields as a JSON file to your local machine.

Add Row Add Row icon

Function:
Adds a row to create a summary field.

Delete Delete icon
Function:
Deletes a summary field row.

Uploads a list of exported summary fields from your local machine, and adds it to a process-based app.

A JSON file that stores a list of summary fields.

Click the Upload file button to select a file from your local machine.

Overwrite Existing Summary Fields / Append To Existing Summary Fields
Description:
Specifies whether to replace the summary fields that already exist in an app.
Allowed Values:
  • Overwrite Existing Summary Fields - Replaces the summary fields that have the same name in an app with the summary fields you import.
  • Append To Existing Summary Fields - Adds the summary fields you import and does not replace the existing ones.
