(Example) Create an eForm (Manager Approval)

This example shows how to create a Manager Approval eForm in the Absence Request app.

  • The Manager Approval form is used to approve or reject the absence request for an employee.
  • The Manager completes this form.

Step 1: Create an eForm (Manager Approval)

First, create a Manager Approval eForm in the Absence Request app.

Procedure

  1. In Process Builder, in the Activity Library, open the eForms eForms icon tab.

  2. On the eForms tab, drag the Standard Task activity onto your process.

  3. On the eForm Configuration screen, select the Create Absence Request eForm.

    This step is a shortcut to complete the configuration for the activity. This is not the eForm to use for this task.

  4. Click Next.
  5. On the General Configuration screen, in the Display Name field, enter Manager Approval.

  6. Click Next.
  7. On the Participants screen, in the Add Roles, Groups and Users field, select Groups.

  8. In the Search field, enter Manager.

    The Groups list show the Manager group.

  9. On the Details field, drag the Manager group.

  10. Click Standard Task Configuration Standard Task Configuration icon.

  11. On the eForm Configuration screen, click Add New Form.

  12. On the Form Details screen, in the Form Name field, enter Manager Approval.

  14. On the Choose Form Layout screen, click Existing Form.

  15. Click Next.
  16. On the Select Existing Form screen, select Set Available Leave Hours.

  17. Click Finish.

    The eForm Builder opens and shows the Manager Approval eForm.

Step 2: Create Form Sections

Next, create the form sections for the Manager Approval form.

Procedure

  1. On the eForm Builder screen, click Sections.

  2. On the Form Sections Settings screen, in the Add New Section field, enter Manager Approval.

  3. Click Add.

  4. In the List Of Sections, delete the Set Available Leave Hours section.

  5. Click OK.

    The Manager Approval form shows with 2 sections.

Step 3: Create a Logo Image (Manager Approval)

Next, create a logo image on the Manager Approval section in the Manager Approval form.

Procedure

  1. On the Absence Request section, click the logo image.

  2. On the eForm Builder screen, click Copy.

  3. Click the Manager Approval section.

  4. On the Manager Approval section, click Paste.

    The Manager Approval section shows the logo image.

Step 4: Create a Title (Manager Approval)

Next, create a title for the Manager Approval section in the Manager Approval form using the Heading form control.

Procedure

  1. On the Common Controls tab, drag a Heading Heading icon form control onto your eForm.

  2. On the Field Settings - Heading screen, in the Label field, enter Manager Approval.

    When you click the Internal Name field, the Internal Name field shows the value you entered in the Label field with no spaces.

  3. Click the Behavior tab.

  4. On the Behavior tab, in the Text Align field, select Center.

  5. To save the changes, click Close Screen Close Screen icon.
  6. On the Manager Approval form, expand the Manager Approval form control to the width to show on the eForm.

Step 5: Configure a Radio Button Form Control (Approve or Reject)

Next, configure a Radio Button form control to approve or reject the absence request on the Manager Approval form.

Procedure

  1. On the Common Controls tab, drag a Radio Button Radio Button icon form control onto your eForm.

  2. On the Field Settings - Text Box screen, in the Label field, enter Approve or Reject.

    When you click the Internal Name field, the Internal Name field shows the value you entered in the Label field with no spaces.

  3. Click the Configure tab.

  4. On the Configure tab, select Required.

  5. In the Orientation, select Horizontal.

  6. In the List Options section, click Add Option to show 2 rows.

  7. In the Name and Value fields, enter these values:
    • Approve
    • Reject

  8. To save the changes, click Close Screen Close Screen icon.

Step 6: Configure a Text Area Form Control (Manager Comments)

Next, configure the Text Area form control to enter comments on the Manager Approval form.

  1. On the Common Controls tab, drag a Text Area Text Area icon form control onto your eForm.

  2. On the Field Settings - Text Area screen, in the Label field, enter Comments.

  3. In the Internal Name field, enter ManagerComments.

  4. Click the Configure tab.

  5. On the Configure tab, in the Display Rows field, enter 6.

  6. To save the changes, click Close Screen Close Screen icon.

Step 7: Complete the eForm (Manager Approval)

Next, complete the Manager Approval eForm and return to the Absence Request process.

Procedure

  1. On the eForm Builder screen, click Save > Save and Check In.

    The eForm Builder screen closes and the eForm Configuration screen shows in the Process Builder.

    The Process Builder shows the process model with the Manager Approval standard task.
