How Do I Migrate the AgilePoint NX Databases to a New Database Server?
To migrate the AgilePoint NX databases to a new database server, do the procedure in this topic.
Prerequisites
Good to Know
- For a list of databases for AgilePoint NX components, refer to Create Databases for AgilePoint.
Procedure
- To stop an AgilePoint Server instance, on the AgilePoint Server Manager screen, click Stop Service .
- On the source SQL Server, export the AgilePoint NX databases.
- On the destination SQL Server, to import the databases, do this procedure.
- To change the configuration for the AgilePoint Server workflow database, on the Database screen, in the Database Name, select your workflow database name. The default name is AP_Workflow_DB.
- To change the configuration for the portal master database and portal tenant database, on the Manage AgilePoint NX Portal Configuration Utility screen, complete these fields:
Field Name Definition Database Type
- Function:
- Specifies the database technology to store your data.

User
- Function:
- The user name for the account AgilePoint Server uses to connect to the database.
- Accepted Values:
- An alphanumeric string that contains a user name for the database.

Password
- Function:
- The password for the authentication account.
- Accepted Values:
- An alphanumeric string that represents a password.
- Default Value:
- None
Database Server
- Function:
- Specifies the server name and domain for your database.
- To Open this Field:

- In the Database Type list, select Microsoft SQL Server.
- Accepted Values:
- A valid database server name.
- Default Value:
- None
Portal Database
- Function:
- Specifies the name of your AgilePoint NX Portal database.
- To Open this Field:

- To complete the database names from the database server, click Get Database.
- Accepted Values:
- A valid database name.
- Default Value:
- None
Tenant Database
Initialize
- Opens this Screen:
- Sets the AgilePoint NX Portal database configuration for the first time.
Update
- Function:
- Saves changes to the AgilePoint NX Portal database.
- To change the configuration for the Data Services database, on the Configure the Data Services Windows Service screen, complete these fields.
Field Name Definition Database Server
- Function:
- The database used for data tracking.
- Accepted Values:
- A valid database server name for Data Services.
- Default Value:
- The server name that was set when Data Services was installed.
- Example:

Database
- Function:
- Specifies the name of the database for Data Services.
- Accepted Values:
- A valid database name from the list.
Click the Ellipses button to get the names of the databases.

- To change the configuration for the Report Center database, do this:
Note: The Report Center component (sometimes referred to as AgileReports) can only be used by customers who purchased this component before April 1, 2020. This version is no longer available for purchase, including by current and previous purchasers of AgilePoint NX or the Report Center component. In AgilePoint NX v8.0 and higher, Report Center has been replaced with the Analytics Center component.
- On the AgileReports AgileConnector, in the Report Database Connection field, change the database connection string to AgileReportsMetaDb.
- On your AgilePoint Server machine, open the file [Report Center installation folder]\bin\ahDbAdmin.exe.
- On the Logi 10 Ad Hoc Management Console screen, click Instance Configuration > Metadata connection.
- On the Metadata Database Connection screen, click Edit Connection String.
- Change the connection string to point to AgileReportsMetaDb.
- On the Logi 10 Ad Hoc Management Console screen, click Instance Configuration > Report Database connections.
- On the Report Database Connection screen, click Edit Connection String.
- Change the connection string to point to AP_Workflow_DB.
- On the Logi 10 Ad Hoc Management Console screen, click Instance Configuration > Metadata connection.
- To start an AgilePoint Server instance, on the AgilePoint Server Manager screen, click Start Service .
