The rich text controls for the Email Template Wizard come from a third-party vendor and use typical, industry-standard behavior. When creating or editing a hyperlink that includes a custom attribute, if no protocol is present in the URL field, the control adds the default prefix about: to the URL.
This prefix is not visible until the email template has been saved, but it appears in the process at runtime.
