Can't Access Active Directory Users from Enterprise Manager

Applies To

Symptoms

Failed to import Active Directory users in Enterprise Manager. Received error:

Failed to access domain user information.
Please check domain name, username, password, domain access rights,
and network connection.

Detail: A referral was returned from the server

Cause

Either the AgilePoint System Account does not have sufficient privileges to access the Active Directory or the domain information is incorrect.

Resolution

There are typically two possible causes for this error:

  1. The AgilePoint System User (the one set in the AgilePoint Server Configuration) is not a domain user or does not have the sufficient privileges to access the AD.
  2. The FQDN does not end with .com. If the FQDN does not end with .com, you cannot use the domain name along to access the AD. Instead, you will need to specify the full LDAP path such as: LDAP://dc=xyz,dc=com,dc=de.

Make sure the AgilePoint System Account is specified correctly with sufficient privileges. If the domain that you try to access does not ended with .com, please make sure you specified the domain in its full LDAP path.
