Create Associations Between Two Entities in Dynamics CRM

How to Start

  1. On the Application Explorer screen, do one of these:

    • Add an activity:
      1. In the Process Builder, in the Activity Library, open the Dynamics CRM Dynamics CRM icon tab.
      2. On the Dynamics CRM Dynamics CRM icon tab, drag the Create Association Create Association icon activity onto your process.
    • Change an activity:
      1. In your process, double-click your activity.
  3. On the Create Association Configuration screen, click Create Association Create Association icon.

Procedure

  1. On the Create Association Configuration screen, in the Dynamics CRM field, select your Dynamics CRM access token.

    To create a new access token, click Add Token Add Token icon. For more information, refer to Access Token for Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

  2. In the Entity Name list, select your entity.
  3. Complete this field as necessary.
    Field Name Definition

    Entity ID

    Function:
    Specifies the Dynamics CRM entity ID.
    Accepted Values:
    A valid Dynamics CRM entity ID.
    Default Value:
    None
    Accepts Process Data Variables:
    Yes

  4. In the Relationship list, select the entity that is associated with another entity in the many-to-many relationship.
  5. Complete this field as necessary.
    Field Name Definition

    Related Entity ID

    Function:
    Specifies the ID of the associated entity. This value is usually a variable.
    Accepted Values:
    A valid ID.
    Default Value:
    None
    Accepts Process Data Variables:
    Yes
  6. (Optional) To store the new association ID in a process data variable, add the variable from the Process Data screen to the field Store New Association ID in Custom Attribute or Schema.

    Function:
    Specifies the process data variable that contains the association ID from Dynamics CRM.
    Accepted Values:
    A process data variable that accepts an alphanumeric string with no spaces.
